I recently sold my copies of Devil May Cry 4 and Folklore on ebay and made good use of the funds by getting Fallout 3 for the PS3. I’m definitely glad I got this game. I’ve only played for about 9-10 hours so far and I’m loving it. The atmosphere of this game is amazing and engrossing. The last game that I had such an emotional response to was Bioshock.
I think Bethesda made a very appropriate choice selecting Washington DC as the site for this game. When you discover familiar locations such as the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, it really makes you think about the current state of affairs in our world. Just today I ran into this article about how nuclear weapons use may be more likely in the future. Also, the other thing that really added to the melancholy feel of the game was the fact that we’ve had to keep our windows shut for the last three days due to the ash fallout from the fires in Yorba Linda. My allergies were also acting up really badly and I had also started coughing because of the horrible quality of the air. And this was only from a few brush fires. It made me really think hard and long about wars and their effects (I’m from a war-torn country so I won’t get started on this or it will become a novel in itself).
Another moment in the game that really made me shudder was when I was facing some super mutants and had run out of any stimpaks and anything edible other than human flesh. I was biting my nails and thinking, “God, am I gonna REALLY eat that for a few health points?” Yes, I did, and then let the damn mutants have it. But it was a really, really hard decision.
The dark humor in the game is also entertaining, not to mention the wonderful 40’s soundtrack. So far I’m really loving this game and I suspect it will only get better as I continue playing.
I’m sick and tired of the bloody bailout of the rich by our tax dollars. These same sons-of-bitches that have been ripping us off for decades are now begging for more money from the government to bail themselves out. And bail is what they will do - off to their off-shore mansions with their pockets full of our money. As they themselves love to say when they are raping us blind, “let the free market decide”. Nobody’s bailing out my small business when we’re struggling to barely pay our bills. Why the hell should we bail out these thieves? God forbid the government give back some of our own tax money to help education, healthcare, etc. If that happens, everyone starts screaming “Socialism”. But it’s A-OK to give TRILLIONS to corporations as corporate welfare. Sorry folks, this is pure Marxism and Fascism. When Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez started nationalizing his counrty’s oil, we were yelling “Communism”. Now our own government is buying out banks and effectively nationalizing them, but no one is screaming “Communism”. And then they continue to tell us their big lies - “If such and such company collapses, there will be thousands of jobs lost.” As if they don’t go laying off people ANYWAY when they do get the fat checks. I have yet to see ONE CEO come out and say, “Hey, you know, times are bad and I’m gonna take a $200 million/year pay cut so that we can keep a thousand employees.” Instead, they want to be bailed out so that they can continue collecting their fat checks and cashing in on their stock options and MOVING OUT OF THE COUNTRY to their villas in Dubai. Let the giants crash and fall. Let the free market decide. I believe the following George Carlin video summarizes my sentiments best:

I loved Fable and I have been really looking forward to Fable II. I’ve been reading the numerous reviews on the various gaming sites and it looked really promising. Also, I’ve been checking out Molyneaux’s demo videos and that had gotten my excitement level even higher. I finally was able to scrounge up enough cash three days ago and went and bought the game.

Today was the offical launch of the Sony PSP-3000, the third incarnation of the Sony Playstation Portable. Of course I ran out and bought the original PSP on launch day. I still own the original phat PSP and LOVE it. Of course it’s running custom firmware with homebrew capability. Also, when the PSP-2000 (aka PSP slim) came out, I was quick to jump on the bandwagon. I loved the slim form factor and it also made a great present for my wife The main reason I wanted it was the ability to connect it to my tv, a feature that the phat PSP lacked. Once plugged into my TV in the bedroom, I then use remote play to control my PS3 downstairs and stream my media to the bedroom. Entertainment magic!
But now Sony wants me to shell out another $200 bucks for an even newer PSP. Sorry Sony, this time it’s not gonna happen. First off, the economy sucks and I’m broke. Second, I already have two PSP’s and my wife will LITERALLY kill me if I buy a third. And third, I really don’t see a reason to buy this one. Yeah, the screen is much nicer and it has a built-in microphone, but hell, who actually USES Skype. It’s funny because there is so much talk about Skype, but I have yet to meet someone who actually uses it. Just about everyone has created a Skype account, but no one that I know is actually using it. Not sure what Sony’s thinking with this version of the PSP, but I can’t think of anything that will justify me buying it. But if you don’t have a PSP already, I can’t recommend this awesome portable enough!
